Stella & Eyþór

Akureyri Lodge is part of a small collection of Icelandic properties created and cared for by Stella & Eyþór.

They have been married for 30 years, raised three children and are now grandparents to six.

Stella began her career in banking before moving into hospitality. For more than 17 years, she ran Bláa kannan, one of Akureyri’s best-known downtown coffee houses.

Eyþór is an engineer by profession and a natural entrepreneur and visionary. Over the years, he has founded and led numerous companies and projects, always driven by curiosity and a passion for creating something new.

Their journey into accommodation began with the acquisition of Hotel Laugar, a seasonal summer hotel in Reykjadalur.

That experience changed the direction of their work.

They discovered that what they enjoyed most was not simply running accommodation, but creating places where people could arrive, slow down and feel at home — even when they were far from home.

Today, their collection includes Hotel Laugar, Villa North and Akureyri Lodge, each with its own personality and setting.

There is no large corporate chain behind them.

Just two people who care about the places they create, the people who stay there and the feeling they take home with them.
